Technical And Economical Performances In VAXXITEK® HVT+IBD Field Trials On Broilers In Morocco

Gumboro Disease is a viral infection that causes major economic losses (low homogeneity, increase of conversion index and mortality ratio). A new vaccination concept is available: a live HVT vector vaccine, VAXXITEK HVT+IBD that is injected in ovo or to day chicks by subcutaneous route. Trials were conducted in Morocco during the launch of the vaccine. The objective was to proof the efficacy and safety of the vaccine in local conditions (Table 1). Economical and technical performances (Figure 1) of VAXXITEK HVT+IBD were compared to control flocks performances (classic vaccination schedule). The indicators used for the comparison were: conversion index, mortality ratio, weight at slaughter, and the European Performance Index (EPI). The return on investment was estimated for a sample of 300,000 vaccinated broilers (Table 2). The performances obtained in VAXXTITEK HVT+IBD flocks were higher (Table 3). The productivity was improved by 13% and the return on investment for 1 dirham invested on VAXXITEK HVT+IBD was estimated at 3.6 dirhams.
