Monitoring Of Safety And Efficacy Of A Herpesvirus Turkey - Infectious Bursal Disease (HVT-IBD) Vector Vaccine In A Commercial Layer Operation In Mexico
Ochoa Ramon | XVII WVPA Congress Cancun | 2011
A field evaluation of the use of a HVT-IBD vector vaccine was put in place in Mexico in future commercial layers, vaccinated at day-old. The trial was a comparative trial aiming at monitoring the safety and the efficacy of the vector vaccine as compared to live intermediate strain IBD vaccination within the same site of production, in contemporaneous flocks of commercial layers. Increased uniformity of bodyweight led to improved overall general conditions prior to transfer to production of the pullets. Peak of lay was significantly higher, and the overall production was increased by 5 eggs per bird at 65 weeks of age.
